Marriage might not be such a good idea for handsome men. That’s the conclusion of a study published in the Journal of Family Psychology which found that attractive men were less satisfied with their marriages then their more homely counterparts. In the study, researchers looked at the connection between a spouse’s facial attractiveness and reports of marital satisfaction.
While past studies have found having an equal level of attractiveness between partners plays a big role in new relationships, similarity in attractiveness is not especially important in marriage. The study found that both spouses behaved more positively when the the wives were more attractive than their husbands. But each partner behaved more negatively in relationships in which the husband was more attractive than the wife.
So if you’re a guy, the moral of this story is to marry a woman who’s hotter than you. But, of course, you already knew that, didn’t you?
