3 Of The World’s Best Places To Drink A Delicious Beer

For beer lovers, there’s something almost spiritual about sipping a bottle or draft pint of their favourite brew ̶ whether that’s a cool, crisp lager, an IPA with fresh floral notes, or a stout with chocolatey overtones.

And in the same way wine fans and foodies appreciate trying local labels and authentic cuisine when they travel to new locations, beerophiles love trying new brands abroad, and nothing complements a brewski better than some stunning scenery.

With that in mind, here are three of the world’s best places to drink a delicious beer.

1. Prague, Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is the birthplace of Pilsner beer and brands like Pilsner Urquell, Staropramen and Budweiser Budvar are highly rated around the world.
This city is blessed by over a millennium of diverse architectural styles and a fairytale castle complex that’s truly magical. Some of the best places to enjoy a few jars include the lush Letna Park Beer Garden, the swish Hemingway Bar and the Prague Beer Museum, which has a mind-blowing choice of hops-based beverages.

Tip: join the Drunken Monkey Pub Crawl ̶ it’s one of the best ways to sample a wide variety of Prague bars.

2. Dublin, Republic of Ireland

Dublin’s a fascinating place to visit and in the bars here you’ll not only sample some amazing beers and whiskeys, but you’ll also enjoy the best craic (lively conversation) in the world. Hotspots include the Gravity Bar at the Guinness Storehouse, where you’ll enjoy an outstanding pint of the black stuff and panoramic views of the city, and J.W Sweetman, a microbrewery bar with a wonderful traditional wood-lined interior set over four floors. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for an awesome area for a bar crawl, it’s got to be bustling Temple Bar.

Tip: hire a car in a couple of clicks from Enjoy and explore the rest of the Emerald Isle (provided you’ve not been drinking the night before!).

3. Edinburgh, Scotland

Britain’s most beautiful city (sorry London, Chester, Cambridge et al!), Edinburgh boasts an elegant Neoclassical New Town and an Old Town where the jewel in the crown is a medieval castle perched on a volcanic plug. There are many breweries here, several of which brew international brands under license, but local brands like Innis & Gunn are also gorgeous and if you’re a craft beer aficionado you should check out cool pubs like Holyrood 9A, Jeremiah’s Taproom and The Lioness of Leith.
Tip: if you’re a fiction fan visit The Oxford Bar, which is a favourite haunt of crime writer Ian Rankin (and his famous creation Inspector Rebus!).

This terrific triad of places to enjoy an amazing pint will satisfy the choosiest beer guru ̶ to make the best of your quest, remember to line your stomach with something tasty before a big night out, drink in moderation and include a few teetotal days to sightsee with a clear head. Here’s to your good health!
