4 Vacation Destinations for Summer Travel

With summer weather finally here, I’m ready to get out of town. When it’s hot and sunny outside, the last place I want to be is at the office. Who wants to work when the weather is this nice? If you’re like me, it might be time to use some of the PTO that you’ve been saving up. It really is that easy: Just pack your bags and get out of town.

When I book a vacation in the summer, I’m looking for a destination where I can have some fun, get outdoors, and maybe get out on the town and chat up the locals (if you know what I mean). The destinations on this list have very different vibes, so read more to find the one that is right for you.

Miami, FL

There are those who would avoid Florida in the summer, because of the humidity. No disrespect to those people, but for me, Miami still reigns supreme in terms of summer vacation destinations. First of all, Miami has world-famous beaches. With hotels right across the street from the water, it’s the ideal place for summer fun in the sun. Second, the food is simply incredible. Because the city is a melting pot of cultures, delicious Carribean, Central and South American food is everywhere you look. Last, but certainly not least, Miami is an amazing destination for nightlife. The drinks are always flowing, and the locals are hot and ready to dance. Dress sharp and you’ll definitely have a night you’ll never forget.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Speaking of nightlife, it doesn’t get any better than Las Vegas. This is not a family friendly destination, but if you’re looking to take a short trip but blow off a lot of steam, Vegas is the right place to go. Whether you’re into dark, smoky card tables or hoping to still be going hard at 4am in a huge club, Vegas has what you need. Summertime is all about the pool parties at the day clubs. Not to be confused with your typical hotel pool, Vegas dayclubs feature all the benefits of nightlife, including drinking and dancing, in a gorgeous pool party setting. Be sure to bring your money though! Many of the day clubs have covers that can cost you up to $100 per person.

Richmond, VA

This small city in Virginia is definitely a departure from our last two suggestions. The locals here still like to have a good time, but RVA isn’t quite the party city that our last two options are. However, the Richmond VA flight deals, combined with lots of live music and street art, make this a great budget friendly vacation spot. The James River flows through the middle of the city, so there are multiple cute riverfront cafes and bars to enjoy. If drinking is your thing, check out the many distilleries or book a brewery tour to sample the local wares. Richmond has a lot to offer for a small city, at a pace of life that will feel like a much needed break for the busy traveler.

Denver, CO

The capital of Colorado, or the Mile High City, as it is sometimes called, is a larger city with a lot of small town charm. It’s a perfect vacation spot for those that want proximity to the great outdoors in a metropolitan setting. Rugged natural beauty is never very far away in Denver, as it is surrounded by a gorgeous mountain range. No matter what your hiking skill level is, you’ll definitely be able to find a trail that is right for you.

Summer is the best time to get out and explore a new place. Whether you’re looking for a fast-paced party environment or a relaxed small-city getaway, you can’t go wrong with any of these destinations.
