If you would like to sit in strip clubs all day, observe lap dances, and get paid for it, the University of Leeds has the job for you. The U.K. college is currently advertising for the following position: “Research Officer – The rise and regulation of lap dancing and the place of sexual labour and consumption in the night time economy.”
Yes, this is a real job. But it won’t be easy to get – according to the ad you will need to have “prior experience of conducting research in the female sex industry.” Whether this includes getting lap dances in strip clubs is not stated. Oh, and you’ll also have to have or be about to complete a postgraduate degree in the social sciences.
The successful applicant will get around 31,500 British pounds a year, equivalent to about $51,500.
While the job sounds like a blast, the actual research project is pretty tame. The project seeks to figure out where erotic dances are recruited and what their working conditions are like. Researchers plan to interview 300 strippers in northern England.
