The super luxury Helix Hotel in Abu Dhabi hasn’t even opened, but the recently released designs are eye-popping, to say the least. Some people are calling it a corkscrew or a pancake or even a stack of toilet seat lids. Whether you like or hate the design, it’s impossible to deny the originality of the vision.

This futuristic building features a rooftop deck with a glass-bottom swimming pool, allowing you to see the people on the floor beneath you.
The Helix, as its name suggests, doesn’t have floors but rather spirals upwards from top to bottom with no breaks. The hollow center allows the coastal air and natural light to flow in. Panels on the outside of the building harness the abundant solar and wind energy in the area.

The unique design also gives all of the 208 rooms in the hotel a different view. No word yet on when the Helix will open or how much a room will cost. No matter – put me on the waiting list!
