Need to give your pick-up truck a bit more power? How about strapping a jet engine on to it? That’s what Chris Lentz of Jackson, Michigan did and the result is a truly awe-inspiring ride.
The 55 year old electrical foreman first got his hands on the Czechoslovakian Motorlet M-701 through a friend who imports turbojet engines. Lentz then bought a used 2005 Ford F-150 STX truck on eBay for $12,000.
To strap the jet to the F-150, Lentz had to build a custom-made mounting stand complete with a 20 gallon kerosene tank to feed the engine as well as an aluminum and stainless steel control console. Here’s a video of the jet truck in action:
The 231-hp Ford pickup with the jet engine mounted but turned off goes from 0 to 60 in a sluggish 14.5 seconds. Firing up the jet boosts the horsepower up to a whopping 2,700 (you read that right), but trims only six seconds from the 0 to 60 acceleration – not as much as you might expect due to the massive 6,600 pound weight the truck has to bear with the jet engine. Still, the end result is undeniably cool.

Probably not. Which makes it even cooler.
