The start of the summer movie season is not far away and that means crude jokes, stuff blowing up and babes galore. Here are the 10 must-see guy movies opening this summer:
X-Men Origins – Wolverine
After singing and dancing as this year’s Oscar host, Hugh Jackman mans up in the latest X-Men film.
Funny People
The latest movie from Judd Apatow, creator of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, stars Adam Sandler and, of course, the ever-present Seth Rogen. Opens July 31.
Land of the Lost
Will Ferrell’s latest comedy looks to be a blockbuster. It’s too early to tell if the movie’s actually going to be any good, but Land of the Lost will probably rake in the cash. Opens June 5th.
Bruno
Sascha Baron Cohen?s latest film, Bruno, is currently rated NC-17 and the buzz has already started to build. On July 10 you’ll get to see what it’s all about.
Inglorious Bastards
There are two words that every guy movie aficionado wants to hear: Quentin Tarantino. The Pulp Fiction genius returns with a war flick starring Brad Pitt set in Nazi occupied France. Run, don’t walk, to see this film when it opens August 21.
Star Trek
Calling all geeks – the latest installment of the Star Trek series – this time with a bunch of people I don’t know – opens in May.
The Taking of Pelham 123
A remake of a 70s classic thriller, this update features an amazing cast of Denzel Washington, John Travolta (sporting a bad-ass mustache), and The Soprano’s James Gandolfini. As long as the studio doesn’t screw this one up too badly, this movie should rock. Hits theaters June 12th.
Year One
Starring Jack Black and Superbad’s Michael Cera, this movie explores the well-worn caveman theme. The only reason Year One? might be good is Black’s antic energy could be a good foil to Cera’s nervousness.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
The second Transformer movie once again stars the bodacious Megan Fox. Director Michael Bay says Transformer 2 is his best film ever. You’ll get to decide on June 24.
Public Enemies
As a general rule, period movies don’t often make for good guy flicks. But Public Enemies, which stars Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, has enough gun play to be the exception. The crime drama opens July 1.

Finally some manly man movies. It’s going to be a great summer. Men remember – If you are paying then you get to choose the movie.
That is non-negotiable.

How could you not include The Hangover!?!?! I think I’ve watched that trailer 100 times so far (http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thehangover/)

The Hangover was in my top 15, but when I saw the early versions of the trailer I didn’t think enough of it to make it into the top 10. I will agree, however, that the movie is looking better than I originally expected. I particularly like the Mike Tyson scene at the end. We’ll make The Hangover an honorary #11.
