US House of Representatives Want Access to Citizen's Websurfing HIstories. Oh, Dear God No!

Let's hope this thing doesn't pass. Apparently Republicans in the US House are calling for ISP's to hang on to users' browsing histories so that the police can pull up the data later on. That's a little freaky. I think you could probably take the most clean-cut, law-abiding man in the world, take a look at his browsing history, then immediately feel comfortable calling him the most deranged, sickest man in the universe. CNET's got the full story here, but it's hard to believe that there's a big difference between the government tracking your surfing data and the government listening to all your phone calls, which I wouldn't like very much either.

If the government asks to see my complete browsing history, I'll just show them this.
