I generally steer away from recommending iPhone apps because even the most popular ones will only even reomtely appeal to about 25% of this readership. However, every so often one comes along that is a) interesting (I'm not going to write a piece on Google Maps, no matter how useful it is), b) free (duh), and c) likely to be embraced by many.

Well, Untapped meets all those criteria. It's like a Foursquare for bars. But that's not the interesting part. The interesting part is that it lets you keep track of all the beers you've drank at a bar, by both crossing them off a list and rating them, so your booze-addled doesn't have to do any more heavy lifting than absolutely necessary. Of course, it will also give you badges and check-ins and let you know who else is drinking the same beer you are (hint: probably not a really hot girl), but use it for the beer tracker, if for not other reason than you will be made aware when you have drank EVERY BEER EVER BREWED. 

Seriously, some dude must have done that, right?
