Check Out The $60 Million Texas High School Football Stadium
Such a cliche, but still pretty amazing.
Allen, Texas (a suburb of north Dallas) has built its high-tech football stadium that seats 18,000 fans (all bleachers), a giant professional press box, and, of course, a 3,400 square foot HD jumbotron. That's like four of my apartment on one screen.
Of course, there is a ton of controversy surrounding this project, since the school district faced a $4.5 million budget shortfall and had to lay off 44 teachers this year. Lousy buzzkills, talking about teachers and education when we're try to talk about high school football. So lame!
There's a somewhat happy story here, though, because voters decided on a nominal raise in property taxes to accomodate the shortfall and pay the teachers.
Ok. Let's get back to that stadium...
