Now here?s a story that makes you feel good about the future of humanity, at least if you’re a guy. Scientists have found that evolution is leading women – but not men – to become ever more beautiful over time.
Researchers at the University of Helsinki have discovered that good-looking women have more
children than less attractive women and that more of those children are girls. When those daughters grow up, they are more likely to be hotties and the pattern is continued. Generation after generation of already hot women are only getting hotter. Wow.
In contrast, men are not getting better looking because attractive couples are less likely to have a boy than a girl. Scientists claim that men are as aesthetically unappealing as their caveman brethren. Sorry ladies.
Markus Jokela, a researcher at the University of Helsinki studied more than 2,000 Americans over 40 years. The attractiveness of each couple was measured from photos taken during the study. Jokela found that beautiful women had 16 percent more children then less attractive women.
A separate study in 2006 conducted at the London School of Economics found that attractive parents are much more likely to produce daughters.
Scientists say that physical attractiveness increases the reproductive success of women more than men. Since attractive parents have more daughters and attractiveness is inherited, it follows that women over generation gradually become better looking.

1. Life, in regard to physcial hardship, has become much more comfortable than past centuries. Women are softer sex and their look is more affected by physcial hardship than men in general. Easier and more comfortable life in the past several decades has played a big role here.
2. Women have access to much more sophisticated beauty products, skin care, cosmetic surgery, and and other look-modifying tools today. Men rarely use cosmetic products or surgeries.
3. Families used to be bigger, multiple children which meant multiple pragnancies for women is much less frequent today.
4. Nutrition, specially in the early childhood, has dramatically improved over the past few centuries which again, from the looks perspective might benefit women more than men, the same way that it has benefited men by making them much taller in average.
5. Men, I believe, have become more handsome as well, perhaps as the result of #1 and #4.
6. There is much more cross-cultural mixture and marriage today, creating new generations with exotic and sometimes very beautiful looks.
7. Today’s woman exposes herself much more than centuries ago, due to relaxation in social restrictions and norms. A woman that is more exposed naturally looks more attractive to men.
8. Not having seen pictures or movies from 2000 or 5000 years ago to compare, I am suspicious about the merits of this study to begin with.
9. Even if today’s woman is proven to be more beautiful than past, it is in the eyes of today’s male. I wonder if the men who lived thousands of years ago would agree. I mean, as the women’s look evolves, so does the male’s taste and impression of beauty.
