In further proof that some academics have way too much time on their hands, researchers recently set out to discover what makes the ideal Bond girl. Surprisingly, it turns out James Bond prefers brunettes with American accents.
The research team from Cleveland State University looked into the physical traits of all 195 female characters in the first 20 James Bond movies. Of that group, about half ended up doing the nasty on screen with 007 while the other half did not.
Not surprisingly, Mr. Bond tended to bed the women who were younger, slimmer and more attractive. 27 percent were blondes while 40 were brunettes. The rest either had brown or red hair. Characters with long hair and with American accents were more likely to have sexual contact with Bond.
What seems to especially turn on 007 is a woman with a weapon, especially if it’s used against him. Two ladies tried to kill Bond before sex, two during sex, and 10 afterwards. Looks like the threat of violence is a turn on for our favorite British spy.
So who are examples of the ideal Bond girl? One is Lois Chiles who played Dr. Holly Goodhead in Moonraker:
Another is Lana Wood who played Plenty O’Toole in Diamonds Are Forever:
And last, but certainly not least, we have Caroline Monroe who was Naomi from The Spy Who Loved Me:
