Seems that lots of women in merry old England think that chicken skin can be used as a contraceptive. I’m not sure why you would want to use chicken skin as a makeshift condom, but I guess if you’re desperate anything will do. But we need to clear one thing up: boys and girls, chicken skin is not a contraceptive.

Also not contraceptives: bread and Saran Wrap. These were two other items mentioned as possible birth control in a recent health survey of 1,000 women aged 18 to 50 in England. I don’t even want to know how bread might be used as a contraceptive.

One in five women had heard of items like chicken skins, bread and Saran Wrap being used as contraceptives. For oral contraceptives, Coca-cola, shish kebabs and potato chips were popular.

The fact that so many women believe in these contraceptive myths might just explain why England leads Europe in unintended pregnancy rates. Okay mates, one last time: chicken skin is NOT a contraceptive. Just go out and buy some damn condoms already.
