Forget the outdated stereotype of out on the town singles in their 20s. A new study found that the most active daters are those over the age of 55.

Older folks are more likely to hook up on the internet, join a matchmaking club or attend a singles event than any other age group. The study was conducted for Stella magazine by YouGov and involved interviews with nearly 2,000 people of all ages and backgrounds.

The study found that nearly two out of every three men and women over 55 have joined a dating website, compared to just one in five of 18 to 24 year olds. These older folks have also hooked up with more internet dates and found more relationships through the web than any other age group.

And if you thought all this online dating wasn’t leading to sex, you’re wrong. Those aged 45 to 54 have met more sexual partners online than any other age group, followed closely by those over 55.

So all you young folks need to start getting out there. Your parents are putting you to shame!
