If you’re a single guy, you may want to check out the Big Apple on your next vacation. New York City was ranked tops in the nation for singles, elbowing Atlanta out of the top spot.
In an annual survey conducted by Forbes.com, New York beat out Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., which rounded out the top 5 cities. Atlanta dropped to number 6 after topping last year’s list.
Also in the top 10 best cities for singles was San Francisco, Los Angeles, Milwaukee and Philadelphia.
The poll evaluated the 40 largest cities in the U.S. for “coolness” (not entirely sure how they define that one), cost of living for a single, job prospects, nightlife, proportion of singles to the overall local population, and online dating.
It was the online dating factor that pushed NYC over the top this year. New York has more people with active online dating accounts than any other city in the nation. So even though New York City is great for singles, make sure you bring your laptop when you visit.
