Three of the most obnxious things in the world, Simon Cowell, reality television, and DJs are all coming together to form some nexus of animosity and vitriol which may actually take everyone's focus off the Middle East for a bit. You never know.

For those keeping score at home, Cowell made his name harshly critiquing amateurs singing unoriginal music, then moved to another show critiquing amateurs singing, and is now a producer of a show that will critique people who not only aren't really creating new music, but are stretching the definition of "performing" it. Don't give me that shit about DJs being artists every bit as reputable as Eric Clapton or Jay-Z or even Ke$ha. There are a number of electronic artists that are creating new music that some people really enjoy. Those people are not DJs.

If they focused on the music, this DJ contest would be interesting for about 45 minutes. Nope. They'll have to focus on some really colorful personalities to make this show palatable to all but the biggest club rats in the nation. Which means, this show won't really be about music. But then again, little about the DJ lifestyle is really about music anymore.
