A new study shows that losing weight can boost testosterone levels in men and improve their sex lives. Need any more motivation to shed those extra pounds?

Severe obesity has been linked to lower sperm counts and infertility in guys. This new study, conducted at the University of Utah, now shows that obesity is also biologically linked to an unsatisfying sex life.

The study followed 64 severely obese men in their late 40s. Some men in the study had gastric bypass surgery to lose weight, while others used diet to reduce the pounds.

No matter how they did it, the men who lost weight registered increases in total and free testosterone levels, and reductions in the estrogen hormone estradiol.

The researchers also quizzed the participants on the quality of their sex lives before the weight loss and after. The men consistently reported better sex lives and better sexual performance two years after the weight loss.

“We know that weight loss, no matter how it is achieved, improves overall health,” says study researcher Ahmad Hammoud, MD, of the University of Utah. “Now we see a direct relationship between weight loss, testosterone levels, and sexual performance.”

So now you have yet another incentive to lose that weight: a better sex life!

For dinner I had the thick crust pizza which was real good! Love the food just need to get used to the portion sizes, which has always been my problem with trying to lose weight. Love the fact that nutrisystem handles the portion sizes.
