It's no secret that stores have been going nuts with Christmas and their own little holiday, Black Friday. In fact, Black Friday has turned into Black Thursday with many big-box stores opening (and forcing their employees to work) on Thanksgiving. So rather than participate in that parade of materialism and decadence, why not avoid that whole hornet's nest and participate in Small Business Saturday. It's a day that allows us to kick back, avoid the spectacle of Christmas shopping, and help local stores that serve neighborhoods, not stock holders.
