Oh, How Times Change: Vintage Cigarette Ads

It's hard to imagine that, as recently as 25 years ago, people were smoking in restaurants, offices, airplanes, and most any other place that there was too much wind to light a cigarette. While the hazards of smoking were known to some extent, there were a lot more smokers then there are now. Advertising agencies feasted on accounts from the likes of RJ Reynolds, Phillip Morris, and Lucky Strike. Don't believe me? Just check out any given episode of 'Mad Men'.

Well, during this "golden age" of emphysema and tracheotomies, there were some pretty goofy and depraved ways of getting cigarettes into the smokers' mouths. So check out some ads from yesteryear that employ Santa Claus, beautiful women, and bizarre men to spread the word that smoking will make you sexier, more powerful, and overall, just a better person.

You didn't know?
