You know that too much cheese is not good for you. Most cheeses are loaded with fat and calories. But did you know that by simply grating cheese you can make your diet healthier?
That news comes via Britain’s Food Standards Agency which is urging consumers to grate cheese as a way to reduce the amount of fat you eat. Studies have found that people tend to use less cheese in a meal if they have grated it.
The key to improving diet, say nutrition experts, is to cut down on the foods that are bad for you, rather than cutting them out entirely. Small changes to your diet, like switching from whole milk to 1% can make a big impact on your intake of saturated fat, which increases cholesterol levels in the blood and raises the risk of heart disease.
So next time you’re hankering a big hunk of cheese, trying grating it, or use less of a more flavorful cheese instead. You’ll still satisfy your craving and your heart will thank you.
