You know the recession is getting bad when car dealers are offering free guns with the purchase of a car. But not just any gun – a brand, spanking new AK-47 assault rifle.
That’s the deal that Max Motors in Butler, Missouri is offering its customers. “Max Motors is giving away an AK-47 with every truck purchase!!!”, the dealer’s website screams.
Actually, Max Motors provides a voucher that to be used at a local gun store. But it’s still a good deal – AK-47 can run you up to $500. Last year Max Motors offered buyers the option of a $250 coupon for gas or a $250 coupon for a handgun.
Think the gun promo is a bit crazy? Well, according to Mark Muller, the owner of Max Motors, the dealership sold 35 more cars last year as a result of the handgun promotion. He hopes to sell 100 trucks with the assault rifle deal.
Isn’t this country great? You can buy a gas-guzzling truck that destroys the planet and get a free killing machine thrown in for free. Makes me proud to be an American.
