If you find yourself under assault from flying bullets on a regular basis, these sunglasses are for you. Actually, come to think of it, if you’re dodging bullets you have much bigger problems than any pair of sunglasses can cure.

For the rest of us, the Japan Self-Defense Force Sunglasses use lenses that can withstand the impact of a 0.3 inch diameter object hitting it at 106 mph.

If you have iron shafts dropping on you, don’t worry – you’re covered there too. The shades won’t shatter even if a 500 gram shaft of iron is dropped on them from a distance of 1.27 meters. I’m too lazy to figure out what that is in feet, but it’s probably a lot.

No, they can’t actually protect you from a speeding bullet. Maybe you should try ducking.

The glasses are officially endorsed by the Japanese military. Wait – Japan has a military?

Japan Self-Defense Force Sunglasses cost $317 at JapanTrendShop.com.

Just for future reference, 1,27m is about 4ft. and 500grams is a little over 1lb
